BP's FIELD OF THE FUTURE concept makes use of sensors,rnautomation, and computer networks to move real timernoperations data to remote sites for analysis, enabling informedrnand fast intervention decisions. Realizing the value from BP'srnFIELD OF THE FUTURE technology investments requires anrnintegrated design and change implementation approach tornbusiness processes, information flows, and people's roles:rnexcellent implementation of the enabling technologies alonernrarely solves business problems. Since most oil companiesrnhave access to similar base technologies, how we approachrnprocess, people, and change management is a strategicrndifferentiator in digital oilfields.rnWithin BP, we now have more than two years of experience inrnholistically approaching the issues of business strategy,rnprocess, people, and technology in E&P operating assets.rnSome key insights include:rn? Transforming the business starts with process: teamsrnoften don't have a holistic view of how they workrntoday, so it is difficult for them to assess the impactrnof real time information and continuous optimization.rnUnderstanding work processes, and their assignedrnroles, is the logical starting point for this analysis.rn?
