Observatory bibliographies: current practices

Astronomical facilities, both large and small, space- and ground-based, independently create and maintain publicationdatabases that can be used to characterize the scientific productivity and impact of these facilities. This paper willpresent the results of a new survey that reveals how individual observatories manage bibliographies as well as theirmotivations behind them. We will examine such factors as: criteria for paper inclusion, metadata collected, staffinvolved, inter-operability, and other aspects particular to bibliographies. Finally, we learn how these data are analyzedby these facilities.
