This work is part of investigations aiming at "Fundamental characterization of electrodes far high pressure discharge lamps with time-variant energy input". For several years in Bochum a model lamp has been used to investigate electrodes for HID lamps. So far investigations were focused on cathodes of DC argon arcs. Now as we proceed to the AC operation mode, the processes at the anode and especially the anode fall gain more and more importance. It plays a particular role for the heat balance of the electrode and therefore has a strong influence also on its cathodic phase. In analogy to our previous works concerning cathode falls the DC anode fall is determined by two independent methods: temperature and probe measurements.
