APPLICATION OF MUFFLER TECHNIQUES TO REDUCE NOISE OF CEMENT FACTORY RAW MILL STACK

Environmental noise has become a hot issue in industrial region. The factoryrnintroduced in this paper has had so many complaints from nearby residents about itsrnnoise and has decided to take some drastic measures to reduce noise. By previousrnmeasurement, it was found the major noise portion to the residential area comes fromrnthe raw mill stack. The noise has major components stemmed from blowers to thernstack and wide band noise. Conventional absorption type silencer was out ofrnconsideration because it is practically impossible to install it at the middle of thernexisting stack. Perforated type muffler is installed to the stack to reduce major noiserncomponent. An expansion type muffler between the blowers and the stack to reducernboth major components and wideband noise was reviewed. And absorption treatmentrninside the stack is also used. This paper explains analysis of the noise, designrnconsideration of the muffler and its performance simulation, and the results.
