Bridging the Digital Divide: Case Study of Anti-Exclusion Measures in Ireland

This paper outlines some measures taken to bridge the digital divide in Ireland. The Irish case is interesting due to the existing economic and social conditions - growing social inequality and weak levels of social support, but increasing resources to address them. Ireland's recent economic prosperity offers the possibility of seriously addressing these inequalities as never before. The paper examines some recent policy initiatives in Ireland in the light of several principles that can be used by marginalized groups in addressing exclusion from the emerging information society.
