Twenty Years of Experience with Numerical Eye Gaze Alternative Communication: A Success Story

Over the past twenty-years this system has worked very well for our son. We believe he is capable of learning many more words and developing grammar skills. Unfortunately, within the post-public school environment there is presently no funding to train him. From our experiences, students requiring alternative communication should be identified as candidates for the system early in their lives. If they can associate numbers with words, they should be good candidates for NEG, which can be learned as part of their educational process. Use of the system does not preclude other communication options. Since NEG involves no resources other than a number board and list of words, it is easy to try and of essentially no risk and very little cost.
