Methane dehydroaromatization (MDA) was carried out on 6Mo/MCM-22 and 6Mo/alkali-treated MCM-22 catalysts. The results of catalytic evaluation, MAS NMR and pore distribution experiments demonstrated that the alkali treatment of MCM-22 could create some mesopores on the parent MCM-22 zeolite. Appropriate amount of mesopores coexisted with its inherent micropores would benefit the diffusion of the reactants and products, thus increase the stability of the MDA reaction on the 6Mo/alkali-treated MCM-22catalyst.
