Carbon-Oxygen surface Groups on Carbon and their Influence on Adsorption Characteristics

The surface of microcrystalline carbons which include charcoals, carbon blacks and activated carbons has a porous structure as well as a chemical structure. Adsorption capacity of the carbon is determined by the porous structure but it is strongly influenced by the chemical structure.
