V_2O_5 films have been prepared by a reproducible dc sputtering method and their electrochemical behavior is examined and discussed in relation with their morphological and structural features. Special attention is paid on the influence of preferred orientation on the electrochemical response of the deposit. Results indicate that the h00 preferred orientation ensures a good homogeneity for Li insertion-extraction and then a high rechargeability. Indeed, the capacity only changes from 80 to 73 μAh/cm~2 after 100 cycles and is still of 70 μAh/cm~2 after 200 cycles.
