摘要

A method for creating a continuous gradient combinatorial material library suitable for screening with a scanning probe technique is presented. Magnetron assisted plasma deposition through a series of offset masks is used to build material libraries. Several techniques successfully characterized the concentration gradient of these libraries. An example of its application to fuel cell catalyst testing was shown with a Pt-Ru-W library screened with a Scanning Electrochemical Microscope (SECM). Analysis of the data revealed that Pt_(30)Ru_(35)W_(35) was the optimum Pt-Ru-W composition to catalyze hydrogen oxidation in the presence of CO.
