PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve activity and durability of PtRu system catalyst for a fuel cell. PSOLUTION: For reduction of cost of a catalyst material, low-cost precursor bodies of Pt and Ru are used, to which a complexing agent forming chelates in a synthetic system under existence of a reducing agent to narrow reduction potential differences of Pt and Ru, and synthesize PtRu system catalyst with Pt and Ru atoms fully combined into an alloy. By acceleration of combined alloying of the Pt and Ru atoms, the PtRu system catalyst with high methanol oxidizing activity and durability can be obtained. PCOPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
