A DFB laser structure utilizing dye-doped-DNA-lipid films and etchless grating has been studied for potential application to thin-film single longitudinal mode lasers. Although further improvement should be necessary for laser characteristic, the lasing threshold of about 1 mJ/cm~2 was obtained and single longitudinal mode operation has been successfully achieved.
