The Insertible Stalk Inspection System (ISIS) is a unique video camera based system that was designed for performing inspections of tanks and voids on US Navy Ships. When performing inspections, ISIS is used to collect an image set that represents the tank or void's coating condition. This image set is analyzed by a Corrosion Detection Algorithm (CDA). The CDA assesses the coatings damage in each of the analyzed images and then generates a tank level coatings damage level. This paper will first describe the ISIS system and discuss how it is utilized on ship to perform inspections. This will be followed by detailed descriptions of the CDA and each of its components. The paper will conclude with examples that show ISIS and the CDA's ability to assess coatings damage at both the individual image and total tank level.
