In this paper, a fast and robust variant of the SIMPLE method will be developed and then incorporated into the finite-element program, ANSYS/FLOTRAN. The iteration number and the computation time of this new algorithm will be compared with the original FLOTRAN solution algorithm for the following model problems: two-dimensional flow in a lid driven cavity, two-dimensional flows over a backward facing step, and three-dimensional flow in a lid driven cavity.
