Anaerobic-aerobic treatment of dairy wastewater: a pilot study

Financial and regulatory pressures are increasingly forcing dairies to implement wastewater treatment at their processing and manufacturing plants. Gone are the days of limitless or surcharge-free discharges to municipal systems. Though many different methods of wastewater treatment have been utilized at dairies, anaerobic pretreatment has emerged over the past 10-15 years as one of the most cost-effective methods of waste treatment at a number of dairy plants.
