This paper presents studies of vacuum grippers when working with breathable materials. Such devices can be used in packaging equipment in the food, chemical industry, construction and agriculture. It will create conditions for the comprehensive automation of the packaging process. Consequently, productivity and quality of packaging will increase, while material and labor costs will decrease. The research results are necessary for the development of reliable vacuum grippers for automatic packaging systems for polypropylene bags and can be used in structural-parametric synthesis, tuning and optimization of automatic packaging lines for packaging various materials in flexible containers. This will allow us moving to a more productive and environmentally friendly production. In the framework of the study, mathematical dependences were obtained for calculations of pass-through of vacuum channels of the gripping devices for flexible breathable matter. An experimental setup has been developed and constructed to study the dependence of pressure in vacuum grippers of various diameters, the number and diameter of vacuum channels on the reliability and quality of holding of flexible breathable containers. The results of the studies confirmed the possibility of using of vacuum gripping devices for handling of breathable and flexible materials.
