Chess as a motivational tool in education

摘要

The article is devoted to a part of the potential offered by the chess game to motivation of students in the courses Discrete mathematics and Discrete optimization methods. Attention is concentrated especially the problem of chess piece tours and their relation to the terms of the Hamiltonian circle and Hamiltonian paths in the graph, and also briefly mentions the problems of independence and domination. It also demonstrates experiences with influence of this approach on student motivation to teaching process.
