Stormwater Asset Management in the Heartland - Implementing Asset Renewal into a Successful Flood Reduction Program

Johnson County's Stormwater Management Program (Program) has a nearly 30-year history of successfully solving flooding problems in the County through a system whereby it provides funding for flood mitigation projects. Recently, the Program completed a strategic plan which outlined opportunities to begin to fund water quality and asset replacement projects. According to the plan, these projects will be funded alongside flood mitigation projects, and moving forward all three project types will be developed and organized on a watershed basis.
