Design Strategies of Multifunctional Exhibition for Community Regeneration: Two Case Studies in Beijing

The increasing performance of urban regeneration tends to the public sector and local initiatives for general sustainability concerning projects, which introduces the information dissemination media technique into the community-oriented renovation. Derived from the community renewal projects, the subdis-trict exhibition space in Beijing establishes a two-way expression vividly for the citizens individually and contributes to public engagement. This paper aims at providing an analysis of the exhibition spaces in the subdistrict area, as well as in processes of urban media design that take place on challenging a requirement of multifunctional community public space in Beijing. To contribute to the various practical situation, this paper presents the design strategies for subdistrict exhibition in the context for urban regeneration; an urban media-supported design approach developed by demand of the multifunctional space accessible. Follow with the approaches, it describes how the design strategies facilitate the interactive exhibition of two subdistrict projects in Xicheng District of Beijing. These projects strengthen the discussion that the role of the multifunctional exhibition can be promoted by dominative interdisciplinary cooperation of design process to further consider urban sustainability.
