Towards sound assessment and improvement of robustness of structures: Treatment of structural robustness in European standards

摘要

Arational approach for establishing a sound procedure for the assessment of structural robustness and thereby achieving improvement in robustness levels in structures is first presented in this paper. Next, a scheme of categorisation is proposed for the classification of robustness related provisions in codes and standards. Using this scheme, a systematic and differentiated mapping of the treatment of robustness in European standards is obtained. Also a viable platform for the establishment of improved or optimal provisions for robustness in structures is made available through this categorization.
