A Systematic Review of Information Quality of Artificial Intelligence Based Conversational Agents in Healthcare

Advances in artificial intelligence (AI) have led to an increase in the development of conversational agents used to deliver a variety of health-related services such as healthcare monitoring and personalized treatment. Essentially, the quality of these services relies heavily on the information quality of the agents. Recent literature shows a growing interest in investigating the quality of health-related information for AI-based conversational agents, while a systematic review of information quality on these agents has not been addressed. The current status of the art of the information quality of these agents in healthcare remains unclear. In this study, we conducted a systematic review of the 19 articles selected based on our inclusion and exclusion criteria to identify research purposes of using Al-based conversational agents in healthcare addressing information quality, research designs and user feedback on the information quality of the agents. The findings derived from this review suggest research possibilities for further exploration and provide implications for both theoretical and practical perspectives about achieving quality-assured information of the agents for health-related purposes.
