This paper introduces a newly derived closed form solution to a commonly encountered energy detection integral involving a generalized Marcum Q-function. This closed form solution can be used for various scientific, mathematical and engineering applications. In order to validate the derived closed form solution, it was used in the derivation of an exact expressions relating probability of missed detection (Pmd) to probability of false alarm (Pfa) for a deterministic signal under Weibull fading channel conditions. Receiver operating characteristic curves which relate Pmd to Pfa for a typical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing transmission are also presented.
