The reactions of fuels with electronically excited oxygen atom O(~1D) generated from ultraviolet photolysis of ozone were studied in a Herriott cell. Intermediate species such as the hydroperoxyl radical (HO_2) and the hydroxyl radical (OH) formation were quantified in-situ using Faraday rotation spectroscopy and direct absorption spectroscopy, respectively. Branching ratios of O(~1D) reactions with fuels in plasma assisted combustion (methanol, ethanol and acetylene) were determined based on fittings to the experimental time-dependent concentration retrievals.
