Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations of a wind turbine were carried out to investigate the effect of wake meandering on vortex breakdown and recovery of the velocity deficits in the wake region. Wake meandering is driven by periodic variation of the yaw angle in the simulations. The influence of this phenomenon on thrust and power coefficients were also examined, with the distributions of vortices and streamwise velocity. Wake meandering stirs the wake region dynamically, which induces collisions between tip and root vortices. This stirring scatters the vortices over a wider area, which induces rapid recovery of the velocity deficits in the wake region.
