Track geometry of high speed line has great impact on operation safety and ride comfort. Traditional track geometry inspection method like string-line method cannot meet the requirement of high speed line maintenance management with regard to long wave regularity etc. Subsequently, there is an obvious need for improvement of the existing standard of track geometry inspection. A project instance is presented in this paper to illustrate the principle and method of track geometry inspection of high speed railway based on absolute 3D control network to ensure high smoothness of track geometry. Management standard of track geometry is analysed with proposal of some new evaluation parameters and their limit values, such as Changing Rate and Maximum Difference, which could be taken into account by railway construction and maintenance department.
