Three different lifetime prediction concepts were checked with test results. Two of the concepts, the Critical Plane approach (CP) and the Integral Damage approach (IMSH) were developed for smooth specimens under multiaxial loading and expended to welded joints. The third concept the Effective Equivalent Stress Hypotheses (EESH) was developed for welded joints. All concepts are able to describe most of the determined effects of the tests. The EESH is the only concept which is able to predict the decrease in lifetime in the case of a phase difference of 90° between the load components.
