Based on on-road-studies with more than 50 human experimentees, subjective impressions during different driving situations with activated ADAS were analyzed to explore assessable criteria for each driving situation. The analyzed ADAS functions were the two main functions for automated driving - longitudinal control (e.g. ACC - Adaptive Cruise Control) and lateral control (e.g. LKA - Lane Keeping Assist and LCA - Lane Change Assist), These criteria have been subjectively graded on a scale from 1 to 10 following the ISO definition for a variety of different traffic scenarios in different vehicles under simultaneous data acquisition. With these subjective ratings and the measurement data of the vehicle and the environment, evaluation algorithms were trained. This allows expert ratings to be objectively reproduced. In combination with an automatic detection of driving-status this gives an objective evaluation of a wide variety of criteria.
