Technology the 'Ergo Hour,' Managing Ergonomics at a Multinational Organization

Turbo-charging Results: Global companies have global challenges. Dan Johnson is the Corporate Safety Manager for BorgWarner, a global automotive part manufacturer. His career spans over 20 years in the auto industry, from a plant safety engineer to corporate safety manager. He has worked for a variety of Fortune 500 companies, including Ford Motor Company and currently BorgWarner. He has learned that amongst the myriad of safety technical topics in the auto industry, the broadest reaching and most impactful technical issue is ergonomics. Based on the sheer amount of workforce exposure to manual material handling, effective ergonomics, or more specifically "continually trying to improve the employee work experience," is not only powerfully impactful to safety performance, but to overall company culture as well. The BorgWarner case study is an example of a global company leveraging limited resources to drive broad-based, global engagement in continually improving ergonomics. This paper focuses on how BorgWarner and AON Global Risk Consulting have partnered to ensure all BorgWarner global operations can benefit from collaboration and access to subject matter experts in a cost effective, efficient manner, turbo-charging ergonomic improvements worldwide.
