An Empirical Analysis between Market Structure and Performance in Chinese Construction Industry

On the basis of analysis of traditional collusion hypothesis and efficient structure hypothesis, this paper studies the relationship between market structure and performance in china construction industry by using the indirect measure of efficiency. The time span is from 2002 to 2008. The results suggested that the relationship between market concentrative degree and performance was negative and remarkable which was contrary to the collusion hypothesis. And the relationship between market share and performance was positive and remarkable which was consistent with the efficient structure hypothesis. The relationship between the size of different types of contractors and performance was remarkably negative while the growth rate of gross domestic product was positive but unremarkable.
