A geographical information system (GIS) is used ot capture, store, retreive, analyze and ispaly the s-atial (locationally defined) data. In contrast to traditional GIS, multimedia GIS is not only able to collec,t analyaze and store the data in traditional formates i.e. text, images 9pictures) and graphs but also audio (sound), animations and video (moving pictures) as well. In this paper the advantages of multimiedia GIS over traditional GIS are explained.
