Optimizing Building Form for Integration of Solar Photovoltaic in the Design of a Textile Industry in Katsina, Nigeria

Energy plays the most vital role in the economic growth, progress and development of any nation; uninterrupted energy supply is a vital issue for all countries today. Energy as the backbone of world economic growth and development has resulted to depleting fossil fuel reserves, heavy CO_2 emissions, climate change and a continually growing energy demand, a large part of which is consumed by the industrial sector. Mitigating these problems and provision of energy security calls for adopting clean and renewable energy effectively and extensively. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the industrial sector consumed 52% of global delivered energy in 2010, and its energy consumption grows by an average of 1.4% per year. In Nigeria this sector's growth suffers due to insufficient power generation and supply which in turn increases running cost and hampers growth of industries.
