Daylighting is the planned use of the natural light in buildings. The presence of natural light gives the possibility to save energy and to optimize the inhabitants'comfort. Daylight provides high illuminance, excellent colour discrimination and colour rendering, psychological and physiological benefits that cannot be obtained through the artificial light or through windowless buildings. Daylight changes during the day and this variability, connected with the sky conditions, generates some differences in intensity of daylight. The primary source of daylight is the sun. The sun and its rays, which are scattered over the sky, produce light in the sky and on the ground. The daily and seasonal movements of the sun are predictable. Even with clouds modulating the light from the sun and from the sky, the main patterns of the daylight luminance are definable and requested.
