摘要

ASB has been developing a comprehensive model of thermal batteries for many years, called ETHER [1-2]. Since a few years, the model has been intensively used to design thermal batteries with an operating duration in the range up to a few hundreds of seconds (~1200s). More recently, the model had to be used to size a compact (~3" X 6") and long life (30 to 60min) battery. This paper presents the way the model was used and assesses its validity (in fact the validity of the input data) at battery level. It gives the point of view of design engineers.
