NexTech Materials is developing solid oxide fuel cell stacks in the 1 to 10 kW range, based on its patented "FlexCell" planar cell design. NexTech's SOFC stack technology has several unique attributes that make it attractive for military power applications. Sulfur tolerance enables operation with reformed logistic fuels without complete desulfurization. High single-pass fuel utilization capability enables high system efficiency without anode recycle. This paper will describe the current status of NexTech's military purpose SOFC stack technology.
