1. Advanced lead-acid batteries meet application requirements and are the safest, the most affordable, and the most environmentally friendly technical solution for most modern energy storage systems except plug-in and fully electric vehicles 2. A new generation - lead-carbon (LC) batteries - was born in the last decade which is as good or better than any other battery in energy storage systems like hybrid electric vehicles, renewable energy, decentralized and utility storage, grid quality support etc. 3. In highly demanding applications like plug-in HEVs and EVs the combination of advanced lead-acid batteries with other electrochemical power sources like Li-ion and NiMH batteries or ultra capacitors offers a reasonable and affordable solution 4. A low voltage, low cost alternative to full hybrid electric vehicles with same or higher CO2 benefits has been developed. Car makers and market have to decide if it will hit the road.
