A biplanar microstrip quasi-Yagi antenna at 5.8GHz is proposed with novel directors to adjust the beam tilt angel. Different from directors in other directional microstrip yagi antenna which are placed with the spacing of 1/4λ0 along the radiation direction, the directors we present are made up with a bending strip and a rectangular patch to reduce the size of the antenna and enlarge the beam tilt angle. Optimized antenna provides 4.45dBi gain with beam tilt angle of 45°. The -10dB impedance bandwidth covers from 5.3 to 6.0GHz about 12% relatively. The size of the yagi antenna is 42mm×38mm×1.575mm, and total efficiency over the operating band is above 87%. The compact antenna is suitable for a non-endfire directional wireless communication.
