Design and experience with thyristor controlled and thyristor protected series capacitors

摘要

Series Compensation is widely used to increase stability in long-distance and heavily loaded transmission systems. With the use of power electronic devices new possibilities came up to provide series capacitors with a higher degree of flexibility and availability. The benefits can be demonstrated with the TCSC-and TPSC-installations which now are in operation for several years.
