In this paper, a planar six-petaled artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) with miniaturized size and improved bandwidth is proposed. By introducing a frequency-dependent capacitance between the units, multi-resonances are generated to obtain a broad operation band. The simulation results show that the presented AMC achieves a fractional bandwidth (FBW) of 27.4% with unit size of λ/7.2 at a central frequency of 13.7 GHz. Compared with the planar single-layer structure in existing literatures, the proposed AMC structure features smaller size and wider bandwidth. The proposed AMC structure also shows polarization-angle independence from 0° to 90° and its angular stability for different incident angles is also analyzed within ±20°.
