INVESTIGATION OF EFFICIENT USE OF ENERGY IN THE INDUSTRIAL SECTOR OF BRUNEI DARUSSALAM

Brunei Darussalam continues to be dominated by the use of oil and gas as its main source of energy production. However, with the recent decline in oil and gas production coupled with the decrease in the oil and gas prices in the international market, the government of Brunei Darussalam faced a number of challenges. To overcome the challenges, the government of Brunei Darussalam has taken few initiatives: a decrease in the national energy intensity by 25% in the year 2030, diversification of the energy mix through a concerted effort, and promoting the alternative and renewable energy sources for power generation. From the available literature, the GDP per kilogram of oil equivalent for the world is tabulated. Comparison of the energy efficiency is made both at national and international level with a selected SME of Brunei Darussalam. Recommendations are provided to improve the energy efficiency of the SME.
