The above system when implemented successfully can significantly contribute to improvement in traveling by addressing the delay factor caused by both recurring and non-recurring congestion at the toll plazas. The proposed system would collect toll tax from the vehicles driving on toll roads almost without making the vehicle stop at the tollbooths. This can be accomplished by installing a wireless mechanism in both the vehicles and the tollbooths to mutually exchange toll-related information using different data transfer techniques such as via cable, infrared, radio frequency, Bluetooth, etc. The system includes benefits for both toll authorities and users and facilitates them in terms of time saving and cost saving, improved security, increased capacity, and greater convenience for the riders. The system thus provides a broad overview of automated toll tax collection mechanism and its added advantages for both the toll authorities and the motorists.
