Enhancement Strategies For Improving The Skin Accumulation Of Mometasone Furoate

The effect of chitosan gel, chemical enhancers (Dlimonene, Nerolidol, and Transcutol P) and iontophoresis on the skin permeation and accumulation of Mometasone furoate (MF) was evaluated. Chitosan gel containing Nerolidole as chemical enhancer improved the amount of MF in the skin without any permeation across the skin. The application of electric current (anodal iontophoresis) to the chitosan gel increased the accumulation of MF, as well. By the way, the combination of anodal iontophoresis and chemical enhancer (Nerolidol) produced no further enhancement.
