Preparation and Evaluation of Spray-dried Powders Containing Bacterial Antagonist for Control of Rice Sheath Blight Disease

Bacillus megaterium antifungal powders were prepared by the spray-dried technique. The formulation exhibited good physical and biological characteristics such as low-moisture content, high-bacterial viability and highactivity against mycelium growth of R. Solani that would be suitable for application in plant disease control and suitable as the active component for devising other solid formulations such as granule, pellet or tablet forms. The bacterial viability remained high after 12 month storage at room temperature. The bacterial formulation was effective in controlling sheath blight disease in the greenhouse experiment.
