Preparation and Evaluation of Spray-dried Powders Containing Bacterial Antagonist for Controlof Rice Sheath Blight Disease

Bacillus megaterium antifungal powderswere prepared by the spray-dried technique. Theformulation exhibited good physical andbiological characteristics such as low-moisturecontent, high-bacterial viability and highactivityagainst mycelium growth of R. Solanithat would be suitable for application in plantdisease control and suitable as the activecomponent for devising other solid formulationssuch as granule, pellet or tablet forms. Thebacterial viability remained high after 12 monthstorage at room temperature. The bacterialformulation was effective in controlling sheathblight disease in the greenhouse experiment.
