摘要

This work consists on the development of Functionally Graded Composites with different gradient profiles.The gradients were obtained with a newly developed device that allows the creation of almost any gradient profile by using powders both matrix and reinforcement. The influence of the gradient profile on both metallurgical and mechanical properties is assessed.Metallurgical evaluation was made through optical analysis for gradient profile control and by SEM/EDS for interface reaction between matrix and reinforcement.Mechanical evaluation was made by tensile stress tests along the gradient. Aluminium matrix and SiC carbon nanotubes as reinforcement will be tested.The materials were processed through conventional Hot Pressing Powder Metallurgy techniques.
