摘要

The bombination of high hardness, highmodulus and low density makes TiB_2-Al_2O_3composites attractive for use as sutting tools andballistic laminates. As energy costs for processingthese materials through conventional routes are high,SHS is used as an energy-efficient process to producethem. Through the in-situ infiltration of copperduring the SHS of TiB_2-Al_2O_3, composites withhigher densities have been obtained. Effects ofaddition of 20, 40 and 50 wt.% Cu on the adiabatictemperature and microstructure are discussed.Possible microelectronic applications of these composites are highlighted.
