CBTC system is the kernel technical equipment that is designed for ensuring the safety of rail transit operations. High intelligence and efficiency are the goals of its development. Aiming at reducing the complexity of the system, this paper proposes a novel train-centric CBTC (TcCBTC) solution. Firstly, to find out the existing problems of traditional CBTC system, the structural complexity and functional complexity are quantitatively analyzed by using information entropy method. Secondly, a new train-centric system architecture is proposed to simplify the wayside equipment. In this architecture, system functionalities are reallocated. High-level principles of TcCBTC is further discussed in detail. Finally, we show that the structural complexity and functional complexity of TcCBTC are reduced significantly by comparing it with the traditional CBTC.
