During the NOx absorption with Fe(II)EDTA process, Fe(II)EDTA would be oxidized by oxygen in the flue gas to form Fe(III)EDTA, which is not capable of binding NO. In our previous studies, strain Escherichia coli have been found to reduce Fe(III)EDTA efficiently. A new test using bio-electro reactor to promote bio-reduction of Fe(III)EDTA to Fe(II)EDTA is suggested in this paper. The bio-reduction of Fe(III)EDTA was carried out in self-designed reactor. The concentration of Fe(III)EDTA decreased rapidly when electric current was applied. The reduction rate of Fe(III)EDTA decreased with an increase of the initial Fe(III)EDTA concentration. The biofilm formation on the electrode was observed by ESEM (Environmental Scan Electro-Microscope).
