Recent microfabriated devices with arrays of microwells have provided various culture environments for single cell studies. This requires pick-transport-place handling of individual cells. To realize an automated system for this task, all-in-focus imaging system is integrated with a two-fingered microhand. This paper presents how 3D positions of microfingers and cells are estimated and microhand control strategies to enable fast and more accurate single cell pick-place task.
