Introduction: The principal of using a spacer between adjacent spinous processes was utilized by F. Knowles in the 1950's.Senegas and Cols designed in 1986 a dynamic spinal stabilization system to make the degenerated operate lumbar segment more rigid, using a titanium interspinous block to limit the extension and a tension band (Dacron) around the spinous processes to secure the implant and limit the flexion. Said implant was designed as the fust generation of the current Wallis [1, 2].
