The ring TPO configuration for generating THz has been very attractive due to ease of tuning THz wavelength just by rotating one of the mirror and due to the advantages related to less possibility of damage to the nonlinear crystal. Due to this configuration, the stringent coating requirements on the mirror get relaxed this makes a high Q factor cavity leading to lesser threshold pump powers for THz generation. We have configured an experimental set-up for Ring Terahertz Parametric Oscillator (RTPO). In this, Lithium Niobate has been used as nonlinear frequency converter material. RTPO uses a three mirror oscillator system in which idler wavelengths will be resonated for the generation of tunable THz radiation. Tunability will be achieved by rotating one of the mirrors in the cavity.
